This image of two sisters having a "pretend" tea party captures a special moment between them. Generations of children have experienced similar moments, whether with siblings or best friends. The design is inspired by an original 19th century silhouette that was cut freehand with scissors from black paper. Such cutting, or scherenschnitte, was practiced by European artisans in the 16th century. The art form made its way to Colonial America in the 18th century and was used widely for creating silhouette portraits as well as depicting everyday events.; 6" x 5"; Aida; 18ct
