Although a number of flags are associated with the history of Texas, the four flags featured in this kit are particularly significant. In the so-called Alamo Flag, "Texians" placed 1824 at its center as a means of protesting the steady erosion of rights granted by the Mexican constitution of that year. The First Flag of the Republic included the single white star that came to signify the Texas "Lone Star" perspective. The Third Flag of the Republic became the official state flag of Texas when it joined the United States.
